Ghibli Month

When I watch a Studio Ghibli film, I am gently absorbed into a universe of soft magical realism and ineffable nostalgia. Spirited Away captivated me when I saw it for the first time as a preschool-age child, and it has held its spell over me since.

Each of these six paintings was created in the month of June 2023, and was inspired by the creative world of Studio Ghibli. In some I took direct references; in others I opted for a wider approach, emulating the aura of Studio Ghibli with original characters or settings.
